Halloween dressup day!

Let the Skyfall...

Last Friday all TYs set off to the cinema in Nass for our second mini company workshop. When we got there we were waiting around for a while and were wondering what the the delay was. then a women came in and said that Orla (the women giving the talk) had unfortunatelybeen taken into hospital this morning so the workshop was to be cancelled.
We all thought that we had to go back on the bus and head back to school. But then she said that they were going to let us watch a movie....SKYFALL the new James Bond Movie. We were delighted we started to scream and clap! I really had wanted to go see it! :)
The movie was amazing, I really enjoyed it! It was the first Bond film I had seen in a while do that made it even better.
Then we got another surprise.....
On the way out a women was standing outside handing out goodie bags with popcorn,sweets, a Madagascar beaker and a free drink!!!!! This finished the day off nicely.
This had to have been the best day so far in TY; free cinema and food :)

The names Bond James Bond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Choir and Orchestra

Choir:

This year I decided I'd join choir for the first time! I haven't got a great voice but I love to sing so i said id give it a try! Practise is every Tuesday at lunch with the two music teachers!

For the first few weeks we just did Mass songs for the Opening School Mass! That was great fun because i new most of the songs and they were lively and upbeat. The mass went really well and everyone song their hearts out :)

At the moment there are no up coming school masses which means that we focus most of our time on the piece we are entering into the Wesley. The song we are learning is called "Caresse sur l'ocean." It is a bit difficult to learn as it is in French  and i have never don French but we are staring to get our heads around it. we are putting in extra practices when we can after school! So far we have just got the start of it but we are making great progress!!!

We will prob start working on some Christmas carols in a few weeks which will be fun!!! (:


 

Orchestra:
At the moment in orchestra we are working on a piece called the 'Toy Symphony'! I have been in orchestra since First year and i play the clarinet! So as you might guess i am playing the clarinet part with two others! Its a really fun piece to play there is even somebody playing the bird whistle which i had never heard of till we started this piece! we have only done the start of it so far! I think it is for Music Night! I love being part orchestra and i cant wait till we sart Christmas carols which like the choir will start in a few weeks (bit early yet)!! :) 

 

 

Technology

This is my First ever year doing Technology, So its been a whole new experience for me! I don't think I had even been in the tech. room before this year :) On the first day, we were shown around and given the rules of the tech. room! Then we were told we are making key ring  first and then a clock!!! After this we are going to enter an international competition that's all about designing a F1 car..!

I have finished making my key ring its made from blue plastic. It turned alright but certainly wasn't the best in the class!! lol I enjoyed making it i wasn't exactly brilliant! But hey i did it!!!
We have begun working on our clocks which has been a little easier than the key ring (I'm not saying its good now!) Its probably because I'm getting used to tech! Its made from Pink plastic and I'm thinking about doing a ladybird for the design on the front

We have left the clocks for a few weeks to work on the F1 competition! Basically the project is all about designing a formal 1 car and writing a report on it then entering it in to a competition. Only two groups get through from each school so we will have to work hard to even get through from our school. I am in a group of five and I'm am the Team manager!

This week was only our first week working on it so we haven't done much! We have come up the name for our car (crescendo) and are working on the logo!
This is one of the projects that I'm really excited about :)

My Trip Around the world!!!!!

Well even though I like to think I am actually going on a trip around the world its really only a geography project!

The brief for this project was to plan a trip around the world. We have to go to two 1st, 2nd and 3rd world countries in a year on a budget of  €12'000! We have to have all information like flights, accommmadation etc!
My plan was to visit Canada, Germany, Kenya, Peru, Croatia and Bosnia! its been difficult but really fun at the same time! I have loved reseaching places to visit in all the countries. The only problem is I actually want to go on this trio now! :)
Its been great working on this project but there is actually so much involed in completing! I have bee researching and doing mine for the past 7 weeks! It has to be in on Friday so everyone is paniking trying to get it all finished.I cant wait to see evreyones completed projects!! :)
